Pabodie, Frank H. Professor Pabodie stood
as Professor of Engineering at Miskatonic University in the late 1920s and was a member of
the ill-fated Miskatonic University Expedition to the Antarctic in 1930-31. In fact, it
was Professor Pabodies invention of a new type of drill which fueled the fire
beneath the expedition in the first place. The revolutionary lightness and its ability to
bore through varying strata with ease made it perfect for the job.
During the expedition, Pabodie along with two graduate
studentsGedney and Carroll made a successful ascent of Mt. Nansen during the
period of December 13-15. On January 6th, 1931, Pabodie accompanied a group which made one
of several successful overflights of the South Pole.
During the period of January 11-18, Pabodie accompanied Professor
Lake and five others on their first trek to the northwest into lands never seen by human
eyes before. Numerous borings done by Pabodies' revolutionary drill produced Archaen slate
filled with strange, but normal, fossil markings. It was these drillings that pushed
Professor Lake farther northwest to the base of the Mountains of Madness.
During Professor Lakes' doomed subexpedition, Pabodie remained at
the base camp with Professor Dyer. When it became apparent that something terrible had
happened to Lake's group, Pabodie accompanied Dyer and the others to the terrible sight.
On January 28th, Pabodie and the others returned to McMurdo Sound with the remnants of
their doomed expedition and returned to Boston, setting sail from the Antarctic on
February 2nd, 1931.

Parker, Mr. A member of the crew of the ill-fated Emma. On March 22nd, the Emma was sunk for trying to move into the area of Rlyeh by the ship Alert. The crew of the Emma was able to board and kill the Alerts crew and then went on to find Rlyeh. Parker was one of eight crewmembers to survive the attack by the Alert. After the crew released Cthulhu from its tomb, Parker slipped and fell into an angle in the titanic masonry of Rlyeh, an angle that didnt make since, one that was acute but acted as if it were obtuse.

Peaslee, Nathaniel Wingate.
Professor of Political Economy at Miskatonic University and the subject of a most
extraordinary series of events beginning in 1908 and ending in the deserts of Western
Australia July 17-18, 1935. On Thursday, May 14, 1908, at about 10:20 a.m., Professor
Peaslee was teaching Political Economy VI. Suddenly strange shapes appeared his eyes. He
fainted away and lost over five years of his life.
During his amnesia, his manner of speech and life changed
drastically. He visited strange and exotic places, some of which no one knows of to this
day. He studied the arcane tomes hidden deep in the recesses of the library at Miskatonic
University, absorbing as much information as he possibly could in those five dark years.
Unfortunately for Nathaniel, this change of personality stretched
thin his old friendships, and destroyed his marriage. Rightly so, his wife swore he was
possessed by some unnamable creature and divorced him in 1910. Even after he regained his
senses, the woman refused to have anything to do with him.
In truth, during this period Nathaniels mind had been
displaced by a member of the Great Race of Yith from some one hundred and fifty million
years in the past. Nathaniels own mind had been sent back in time, where he
experienced the splendor and horror of that time. Upon his return to his own time,
Nathaniels memories of his experience were wiped away by the Yithians as much as
they possibly could. Nathaniels recollections proved too strong, though. Over the 22
years, he was able to piece together the entire history of what happened to not only him,
but also other beings from other times, and planets, as well. Until July of 1935,
Nathaniel believed what he was experiencing was only a form of delusion.
Upon his return to present time, Nathaniel began to work at
Miskatonic University in February of 1914. He began to have dreams, first cloudy and only
hinting at the truth, then later vivid with sight and sound. These dreams became an
obsession to the man, with Nathaniel recording every single aspect of each vision he could
possibly remember. With the help of his son, Wingate Peaslee, a psychologist, he tried to
attribute the dream cycle to that somewhat common to individuals suffering abnormally long
periods of amnesia. Finally, Nathaniel was able to get his transcripts published in the Journal
of the American Psychological Society.
These dreams remained an illusion to Nathaniel until 1935, when he
received a letter from a Robert Mackenzie of Pilbarra, West Australia. Mr. Mackenzie had
read of his dreams at the behest of a Dr. Boyle after Mackenzie reported finding strange
and ancient stone blocks in the desert. He sent Nathaniel a picture of some of the blocks,
and immediately, Nathaniel saw why Mackenzie wrote at all. Except for being severely
weather worn, the blocks were the same as those he saw used in the buildings of his
dreams.
Along with Professor William Dyer (known best for his
participation in the ill-fated Miskatonic Antarctic Expedition of 1930-31), Ferdinand C.
Ashely of the Department of Ancient History, Tyler M. Freeborn of the Department of
Anthropology, Nathaniels son, Wingate, Dr. Boyle, and Mr. Mackenzie, Nathaniel set
off to discover the truth behind his dreams.
Almost immediately upon entering the area, the group discovered
the blocks Mackenzie had talked about, but it was Nathaniel, during nocturnal walks, who
discovered the real story. On the evening of July 17-18, Nathaniel was able to gain access
to entire buildings that comprised the city of the Yithians, now buried under tons of
shifting sand. While in the darkness, Nathaniel discovered what he most feared, that he
had been in the place before, over a hundred and fifty million years in the past.
Fleeing from the truth, Nathaniel found yet another horrible
truth. The Flying Polyps, creatures believed dead for millions of years, still lived
within the depths of the city. Barely escaping with his life, Nathaniel left the city
behind in the shifting sands, never to find it again.

Peaslee, Professor Wingate. Second child of Nathaniel and Alice Peaslee, born in Arkham, Massachusetts in 1900. Through his fathers state of amnesia and the years following up to 1935, Wingate stood by his father when the rest of the family turned their backs on Nathaniel Peaslee. During 1935, Wingate accompanied his father and others on an expedition into the deserts of Australia to a location where stone blocks, much like the ones his father dreamed of, were found.

Pickman, Richard Upton. Prolific painter who lived in Boston, Massachusetts in the 1920s. Pickman was best known for his ability to fuse life and horror into the canvas. His works caused numerous uproars in the local art world, and most critics would not even look at his material because of its inherent morbidness. Originally, Pickman had a studio on Newbury Street in Boston, but confided in a follower that there were things that couldnt be conceived in such a setting. Used a separate place in the North End he rented under the name of Peters to do some of his more monstrous works. Used the basement of the place in North End as his studio. An earthen well in the corner of the basement allowed Pickmans models access to his studio. A confidant named Thurber who visited the studio discovered that Pickman used photographs of ghouls which dwelt beneath the city streets to create his paintings. Though not directly, Thurber implies that Pickman may be a changeling, the spawn of ghouls who was left in a cradle under human care in exchange for the human baby there. This comes from The Lesson, a painting depicting the life of these changelings. The changeling in the picture, although brought up by a Puritan family, remarkably resembled Pickman in a strange, eerie way. Some of his mentioned works include Ghoul Feeding, The Lesson, Subway Accident, and Holmes, Lowell, and Longfellow Lie Buried in Mount Auburn.

Pierce, Ammi. Farmer living west of Arkham and near
the Blasted Heath who was born in 1842. Ammi witnessed first hand the events which created
the Blasted Heath, along with the death of the Gardner family and the eruption of the
Colour Out Of Space from the Gardner well.
The events, as far as Ammi was concerned, began in 1882 when Nahum
Gardner stopped by Ammi's place on his way to town to tell everyone about the meteorite
that fell on his land next to his well. The next day, three professors from Miskatonic
University went to Gardner's farm, accompanied by Ammi and his wife, to inspect the
meteorite. By this time, the rock was shrinking. The professors took specimens of the
meteorite back to the university with them. On the very next day the professors returned,
telling Ammi of the rock's strange composition and its utter disappearance. Once again,
Ammi accompanied the professors to Nahum's farm. This time the professors broke apart what
was left of the meteorite, exposing a large, colored globule embedded in the substance.
The globule broke uneventfully when prodded by one of the professors. Within a week the
meteorite disappeared, destroyed when six bolts of lightning struck it during a
thunderstorm.
Over the next year, Ammi witnessed strange things at the Gardner
farm as the effects of the meteorite spread. The Gardner fruit crop, though visibly large
and fantastic, failed due to its inedible quality. The vegetation around the well mutated
into a strange, glowing form, and the ground immediately adjacent to the well began to
turn gray. The well water became putrid, though the Gardners continued to drink it. One by
one throughout the year, the members of the Gardner family went insane.
On the October 19th, 1883, Nahum showed up at Ammi's with news
that Thaddeus, Nahum's second son, had died in his attic room where he was shut after
going mad. He despaired to tell Ammi the details, only saying that he'd dug a grave in the
family plot for the child and buried what was left of him there. Ammi walked Nahum back to
his farm to see if there was anything he could do for the man, but left before dark.
Nothing could make him stay to witness the strange glowing of the ground.
Three days later, Nahum burst into Ammi's kitchen, hysterical and
distraught over the disappearance of Merwin, his youngest son. A search yielded nothing
except a crushed lamp and a pail the boy was carrying near the well when he vanished.
After an exhaustive search, Nahum confided to Ammi his belief that something was
"creeping and creeping and waiting to be seen." He asked Ammi to look after his
wife and son Zena when he was gone if they survived the ordeal.
Two weeks later, Ammi returned to the Gardner farm, finding Nahum
sprawled on the couch, a mere husk of the man he was a year ago. Everyone else in the
house was dead. Ammi searched the house, finding Nahum's wife Nabby's mutilated body in
her attic room. While in the room, Ammi fancied some cloud-like apparition made of strange
colours whisping past him and out the door. He gathered his wits and forced himself
downstairs where he heard a thumping. After an eternity of waiting, he continued
downstairs and found Nahum dying, brittle and gray, his body disintegrating before Ammi's
eyes. With his dying words, Nahum warned that the colour in the well was what killed his
family.
Ammi fled the farm through the back woods. Upon arriving at home,
he immediately set out for Arkham and reported the incident to the police. Albeit
reluctantly, Ammi returned to the farm with 3 police officers, the coroner, the medical
examiner, and a veterinarian in tow.
Initially, the group discovered what Ammi had already explained to
themNahum and his wife dead in the house and the children buried or missing. A
mention of the well by Ammi force the group to drain its fetid contents in search of
clues. In its depths, the police found the bones of Merwin and Zenas, along with the
skeletons of assorted other animals. Additionally, they found the depths of the well
filled with an inexplicably porous and bubbling slime without any discernable bottom.
The men returned to the house to discuss what they found.
Suddenly, a beam of unexplainable colours shot from the well skyward, all the while the
strange glowing which inflicted the Gardner farm grew brighter and brighter within the
house. Fear for their lives drove the men out of the house into the night as the colour
disappeared into space.
Ammi refused to ever go near the place again, and was visibly glad
some 44 years later (1927) when he learned of the new reservoir to be built in the area.
Though Ammi's fate was never voiced, it was mentioned by a surveyor that he feared Ammi
may yet suffer Nahum's fate.
